Stations using renewable power

We do not only use green electricity for long distance transport. We also power many of our stations in Germany with 100 percent green electricity, and these are used by more than four million people every day. A total of 33 stations in Germany is part of this green campaign - including our 15 largest stations: These are several stations in Berlin, the main stations in Hamburg, Hanover, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Frankfurt am Main, Nuremberg and Stuttgart, and two stations in Munich. By the end of 2019, further train stations from the Smart Cities project have also been added.

In addition, our stations of the future are also operated with green electricity:

  • Ahrensburg
  • Berlin Südkreuz
  • Berlin Bornholmer Straße
  • Coburg
  • Cottbus
  • Freising
  • Hamburg Sternschanze
  • Halle (Saale) Hbf
  • Haltern am See
  • Heilbronn Hbf
  • Hofheim, Münster (Westf.) Hbf
  • Offenbach Marktplatz
  • Renningen
  • Wernigerode

All 33 stations together consume around 23 percent of the total energy requirement of all stops in Germany.
